Call for proposals: Final-Year Undergraduate Research Workshop on French/Francophone Visual-Textual Cultures
Wednesday 8 December 2010, 2pm-5pm: ‘Abstractions’
The Centre for Visual Cultures in France at the University of Bristol is launching an initiative to encourage the research work of advanced Undergraduate students, who are currently underrepresented in conferences and related research fora.
The aim of this Workshop is to offer a platform to Final-Year Undergraduates who are studying the relations between modern visual and textual cultures in France and in the Francophone world.
The theme of this first Undergraduate Research Workshop is ‘Abstractions’, which may be interpreted flexibly (e.g., aesthetics of de-figuration, anti-representationalism, dissolution, fragmentation). Selected papers will be of 15 minutes duration. As well as presenting their own illustrated papers, participants will contribute to a concluding round-table. Proposals (circa 200 words) for papers are invited from Final Year students via their tutors.
Priority will be given to Final-Year students who are considering undertaking postgraduate work in the area of visual-textual study.
Proposals should be sent to Susan Harrow at email@example.com by 15 November 2010.
